TONI KITANOVSKI - Guitar Graduated at Berklee School of Music, Boston, Massachusetts Majoring Jazz Composition. Attended composition seminars of Georgy Ligheti and Luciano Berrio. Special studies with Dennis Grillo. Awards: Robert Share Award - Full paid tuition at Berklee College Berklee Achievement Award Charles Mingus Award - For extraordinary achievements in composition Recipient of many grants for his creative work. Toni Kitanovski is the founder of Jazz and Contemporary Music School Skopje, Macedonia. "Toni Kitanovski Band" features several finest Macedonian musicians: Aleksandar Sekulovski on drums and percussions. Oliver Josifovski on upright bass. Sasho Serafimov on reeds. They are joined by the premier Serbian jazzman, Vasil Hadzimanov on keyboards and piano. Toni plays electric, acoustic, nylon string guitar and guitar synthesizer. The latest project "Ed Blackwell" is dedication to great late drummer and explores primarily African based influences from Caribbean Sea region including New Orleans tradition through original compositions. This musical pieces in reggae, marching grooves as well as original rhythms, along with their melodic/harmonic qualities, tell stories of jazz seen through Duke Ellingtons wisdom of "Music of Human Kind". Toni's musical enthusiasm lead to creation of several different ongoing projects with highly respected members of jazz community. MOST SIGNIFICANT EXAMPLES: "Greg Hopkins/Toni Kitanovski Quartet" (feat Boston based trumpeter/composer Greg Hopkins) "Toni Kitanovski Orchestra" with Charlie Mariano featuring music of Charles Mingus "Vinny Golia / Toni Kitanovski / Gustavo Aguilar creative music project". Performances with: Trevor Wats Celebration Music Orchestra, Steve Bernstein and Sex Mob etc. Other very special engagement was 2001/2002 collaboration with compose/drummer Bob Myers, and collaborations with performance artists Nancy Adams and Bart Uchida.
