UBRE DEBRE GYPSY BAND feat. COOH is a Bulgarian gypsy formation representing an extraordinary project with acoustic Gypsy music and Electronic sounds.
KUKER MUSIC (www.kuker-music.com) is one of the most innovative labels of the Bulgarian music scene with a very comprehensive music archive in the fields of jazz and the Bulgarian folklore.
Ivan Shopov as one of the most interesting Bulgarian DJs found this archive appealing to perform music with the many outstanding musicians of this label and has remixed different pieces of Bulgarian folk and jazz music. The gypsy music also know as Buglarian wedding music is especially apparent in the music of the three bass players. This music radiates joy and tragic. In the freedom and virtouosity of these musicians the lyric of the nomades is awakening. As the music found a big audience in Bulgaria he developed the idea to organize his own production.
After a meeting with the the musician Kostadin Genchev who had just started a new gypsy project they developed a concept of a new cooperation combing traditional gypsy music and electronic sounds. The remix with the live performance of a gypsy band is unique in this field of music.
In concerts the combination of live gypsy music and electro beats attracts an audience young and old alike.
Kostadin Genchev is a musician and a composer in the orchestra for Bulgarian folk music at the Bulgarian national radio. He is one of the founders of the ethno-rock band “Bulgara”, in which Stoyan Pavlov plays too. The two musicians play in the French-Bulgarian “B-project” together with the jazz trio of Antoan Simoni.
Angel Metodiev, Mitko Iliev, Stefcho Kolev and Kiril Karabadjakov are famous Bulgarian Gypsy Wedding musicians.
Ivan Shopov ( Cooh )
He started playing on bass guitar in a hardcore-metal band when was 16 and got involved with creating computer music at the age of 18.
Shopov has produced Drum And Bass and IDM for 6 years,now at the age of 24, he got 10 vinyl and 6 bootleg CD releases.
Working together with Valery Sholevski (Ogonek) in 2002 they started promoting the dnb style in Bulgaria, sending "patriotic" messages to the young generation and playing a lot in the busiest clubs in Sofia, Bulgaria.
As time passed by, his style has improved significantly until he attained the contemporary hard and dark dnb sound.
Cooh also works in the field of liquid & atmospheric dnb, also in IDM,breakbeat and downtempo style and last but not least - jazz music. He played at some of the biggest jazz festivals in Bulgaria as a part of The Stoyan Yankuolov Quintet.
